First established as a way to help the city adapt to the needs of foreign trade, Haikou's clock tower has a long and storied history. Covering a total area of 25 square meters and rising 28 meters above its surroundings, it’s an austere and beautiful part of the surrounding scenery. The top of the tower is adorned with four clock faces which ring out the time once every half hour.
