The Hainan Bride Cake is a sweet glutinous rice cake made from glutinous rice, sugar and cooked lard. At Hainan folk weddings, the glutinous rice cake is cut into palm-sized rectangles, and wrapped in auspicious rosy pink paper to signify good luck. The bride will then present the cake to her guests, hence the name the Bride Cake.
