Suitable for Visiting All Year Round
Boasting 300 days of sunshine per year, amazing beaches, jaw-dropping nature and friendly locals, Hainan is a dream come true for those looking to holiday in a real-life tropical paradise.
The island and its capital city, Haikou, have been increasingly transformed into a business hub as well, hosting plenty of international events and meetings.
Attracting visitors from mainland China, Russia and other countries, Haikou benefits from an average, annual temperature of 26C and mild seasons.
Besides the beautiful beaches and mountains, there are plenty of other attractions to keep you occupied. Haikou Arcade Old Street, the Leiqiong Global Geopark Hainan, the Temple of Five Lords and the Huayi Feng Xiaogang Movie Town, among others, are all great places to enjoy.
Be sure also to spend some great lunch and dinner times trying out the local gastronomy and sample the typical “Daddy Tea.”
If you’re travelling from Europe in the summer months, remember heavy rains and warm temperatures are common from June to August, as the island has a tropical climate.
You will still be able to enjoy what Haikou has to offer although you’ll probably have to be careful to avoid heavy showers while you’re outside.
Travel Tips
Make the most of your visit to Haikou by planning everything in advance, especially if you want to land the best deals in town. During the peak season, hotel room prices soar. Accommodation and the main attractions can also be very busy with crowds of tourists attracted to the destination.
So, if you're on a budget and like to be away from lots of other visitors, consider travelling during other months. But remember that the weather can be more unpredictable off-season.
Haikou, and Hainan island, is a year-round destination. Whatever time of year you choose to visit, you're sure to have a great time.
